What Is a JSA?

A JSA (Job Safety Analysis), sometimes called a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), breaks a job into steps, identifies hazards at each step, and lists controls (elimination, substitution, engineering, administrative, PPE).

Field crews often complete a JSA before high-risk or non-routine work. Pair JSAs with toolbox talks and inspections so controls are discussed and verified on the job.
